Kill the Messenger

A new movie is being released on DVD called Kill the Messenger. It tells the tale of journalist Gary Webb, who wrote of the CIA's Dark Alliance with Nicaraguan Contras and cocaine trafficking into California. The storyline:

A reporter becomes the target of a vicious smear campaign that drives him to the point of suicide after he exposes the CIA’s role in arming Contra rebels in Nicaragua and importing cocaine into California. Based on the true story of journalist Gary Webb.

This drug ring was the same one Oliver North used to funnel CIA money to the Contras.

In the end, Kill the Messenger is a very important film that deserves wider distribution due to its historical subject matter. If you’d like to learn more about Costa Rica during the Cold War era, please watch this DVD and pass it on to interested friends and relatives.
